About
At the core of Appalachian State University, the Plemmons Student Union (PSU) plays a vital role in supporting the University’s mission. It offers a dynamic space for students, faculty, and staff to engage in a wide range of programs designed to enhance learning, promote campus involvement, and celebrate the diverse spirit of college life.
Since its opening in 1967, the W. H. Plemmons Student Union has undergone multiple renovations and expansions in 1995, 2004, and 2012, ensuring it continues to meet the evolving needs of the campus community. Fully funded by student fees, the PSU is dedicated to serving the educational, social, and recreational interests of App State students.
As the central hub for student activities, the Plemmons Student Union houses numerous departments, student organizations, and clubs that contribute to the vibrant campus experience. Whether it’s for studying, socializing, or getting involved, the PSU is where App State students connect, grow, and thrive.
Mission statement
Run by and for students, the PSU exists to create a safe and inclusive environment in which the Appalachian community strives to enhance students’ cocurricular academic achievement and social experience.
Our facilities are dedicated to providing opportunities for diverse community development, promotion of equity, and modeling of sustainability.
