Evening and Weekend Coordinator

Shawn Ashford is the Evening and Weekend Facility Coordinator for the Plemmons Student Union, Legends social center and other campus venues. In his role, Shawn works with various groups from Campus Activities to Appalachian Popular Programing (APPS)  to ensure that student staff is available for events, event plans and goals are agreed upon, and that safety concerns are met. Shawn believes that in order to embrace inclusiveness, we must first identify the use of "self" and recognize how we react physically and mentally with others who have different perspectives and experiences.

Also a veteran, Shawn served nine years in the Armed Forces (Army) including  two tours stationed in  Afghanistan. Shawn holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Mississippi State University, Starkville, Mississippi  and a Masters of Arts in Organizational Leadership: Public Administration from Waldorf University in Forest City, Iowa.
