The Plemmons Student Union is leading the way!
In the past, the Student Union managed requests for non-academic space independently from the rest of campus, as did most other campus facilities. The University is currently in the process of introducing a single space management system for all Univerity-managed facilities (including the Hickory campus and off-campus facilities like Broadstone). Having all of campus on a single system will streamline the space request process, promote more efficient space utilization, and will provide the University with valuable usage data so that our increasingly limited resources can be allocated to best serve Appalachian students, faculty, and staff.
The Student Union is acting as a testbed for the introduction of this new tool for non-academic space requests to help minimize the impact that it will have on academic obligations when it is introduced across campus. We appreciate your patience while the new system is being introduced!
